Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Sport Sciences began providing education and training services in 2001 as the School of Physical Education and Sports, and was transformed into the Faculty of Sport Sciences with Decision No. 1773 published in the Official Gazette No. 30945 dated 11 November 2019. Having secured its position among the leading institutions contributing to Physical Education and Sport Sciences, it continues to develop rapidly.
With its educational activities carried out in three departments, our Faculty trains individuals who can serve our province, our country, and the field of sport sciences; who possess scientific and technological competencies; who are able to express themselves; who are competitive and performance-oriented; and who can fulfill the requirements of the teaching profession. The Faculty also attracts attention with its modern facilities.
In the coming period, our Faculty of Sport Sciences will continue its development within a structure that will make the best use of existing resources, benefit from scientific methods, technology, and opportunities, and improve and monitor quality in undergraduate and graduate education.
Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Sport Sciences has a total area of 280,000 m², including 25,333 m² of indoor space, 19,444 m² of outdoor space, and 36,625 m² of green space.
Additionally, within our Faculty there are two indoor sports halls, an artistic gymnastics hall, a fitness hall, two mirrored halls, a table tennis hall, several multipurpose halls, a tatami-matted hall, an international-standard natural grass football field, an international-standard artificial turf football field, a sand football field, a sand volleyball court, an indoor astroturf field, an indoor tennis court, two outdoor tennis courts, an outdoor basketball court, a synthetic-surface athletics track, and a semi-Olympic swimming pool.
